This is what every weekday morning looks like at our house. Cole is wide awake as soon as he hears the rustle of our sheets. Phil entertains our little mister and sneaks him cookies when he thinks I’m not looking. Having a little bit of daddy-kiddo time is a great way for them both (and me! hah!) to start the day.

I experimented with a few photos in low light a couple of afternoons ago, and I am so happy that I did. Brian Andreas was right when he said, “Time stands still in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life”.
This picture is far from perfect. But for me? Beautiful. This is exactly what those in-between moments of our days look like.
Already I look at this photo and I tear up. These days won’t last forever. I know that in the blink of an eye, those precious little hands won’t be tiny anymore. Those beautiful white-blonde curls are going to darken. That car won’t be his favourite toy, and that borderline too-big shirt is going to be too small within a month.
But this moment? It’s right here, forever.
And that makes me glad.

Have you switched over to the new facebook yet? I love it! As with pretty much anything that can be customized, I am SO IN. Haha
I’ve created a quick little scrapbook-style banner that you can pop your picture into. You can use it with pretty much any graphics program - all you have to do is slip your picture behind the template and upload it to your profile. If you want to see it in action, it’s almost identical to the one I have on my facebook right now.
Download both versions right here! (I know they’re almost the same. But I also know that a lot of people don’t… er… appreciate that mustardy green quite as much as I do.)
